About the Anesthesia Research Award
The objective of the Anesthesia Research Award is to stimulate investigations and medical improvements in clinical practice on the use of neuromuscular blocking agents and their reversal.
Participants are asked to write an in-depth article about their scientific findings, aimed for publication in the Acta Anaesthesiologica Belgica.
At the SARB (Society for Anesthesia and Resuscitation of Belgium) Annual Meeting 2012, a poster about the winning article will be presented. The article will also be published on the SARB website.
The award includes a symbolic piece of art and a prize of € 2.500 in cash.
Participation and assessment
All candidates meeting the following criteria are welcome to participate :
• hold a medical degree ;

• practise medicine in Belgium or in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Possible topics for articles include :
• an interesting clinical experience ;
• an improvement or adaptation of an established technique.
Participants can submit a new manuscript or a manuscript that was published less than 12 months before submission for the Anesthesia Research Award.
A jury of leading experts in the domain of anesthesiology will select the most innovative manuscript.
The jury will judge each entry on the following criteria :
• practicality
• originality
• content
• methodology
For each of these criteria, the members of the jury will give a score from 1 to 5 (1 = bad, 2 = moderate, 3 = good, 4 = very good, 5 = excellent).
The sum of the scores granted by all the members of the jury will determine the winner of the Anesthesia Research Award.
Each member of the jury involved or partially involved in one of the submitted papers will be excluded in the assessment of the article in question.
If the jury finds that none of the submitted works is sufficiently innovative, they may decide not to assign the award that year.
